What Do You Want to Know?
It’s natural to have lots of questions when you’re letting a stranger take care of your pet, which is why we pride ourselves on being open, honest and transparent when it comes to Kate's Paws and how we operate daily. Please have a read through some FAQs below and our Terms and Conditions, if theres anything you’re unsure about, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we'll get back to you ASAP.
My pet needs to go to the vet. Can you take them?
Absolutely! With strict laws on pet car travel let us take the stress out of taking your pet to the vet. Your pet will travel in their own secure bed in an air conditioned and vented van. Prices start at £10 per hour for local services (within an 8 mile radius of HU15 1FS) and are also available UK wide too, please see our Animal Transport page for more information.
Do you have experience with anxious dogs?
Yes, having worked with dogs for a long time, Kate has helped dogs and owners find ways of safely getting their pet the exercise they need. We even offer 1-2-1 sessions with you to help you understand your dogs behaviour and how to help them relax on walks. We also offer private walks where we will work with your dog to build their confidence and hopefully work up to introducing them to social and calm doggy pals.
What areas do you cover?
We currently cover South Cave, Brough, Elloughton, Melton, North Ferriby, Swanland, Kirk Ella, Willerby and Anlaby. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you live outside of these areas, if we can't squeeze you in we have lots of helpful dog walker friends that can!
Are you insured?
Of course! We're insured with Petplan, covering public liability, loss and theft to keys and care of animals for up to £1250. We're happy to provide a copy of our insurance documents to any of our clients. Be wary of a business offering services who can't or won't.
Do you only walk dogs off lead?
Not at all. Our services are tailored to each pets needs and their safety and wellbeing is our utmost priority. Whilst we believe a dog gets the most out of their walks being able to run freely with pals until their hearts content, sometimes this is not safe or practical. We use a variety of training techniques and tools to help dogs learn good recall and also to walk well in groups on leads.
Will my dog be able to socialise?
Absolutely! Dogs are pack animals and thrive when they have bonds and relationships and are truly happiest when running through a field with their pals. We assess all dogs behaviour during every walk and work carefully to ensure personalities do not clash. Your dog will be given every opportunity to meet and play with other dogs in controlled situations. Any concerns will always be addressed.
What services do you offer?
We have a range of services Kate has carefully developed to meet your pets needs. Please take a look at the tabs above for a full list of services. If you don't see what you're looking for, please get in contact and we'll be glad to help. After all, pet care is personal.
Do you require a key?
Kate's Paws will require either a key or access to your property on the days specified in your booking. Some clients use key boxes or have someone at home*. You will be notified by email when your pet has been collected and dropped off, so you'll be fully in the know as to when your property has been entered. All our team have a DBS check for your peace of mind, your key is never given to anyone else and your address is stored electronically and password protected for your security.
Do you provide treats during walks?
We provide treats, poo bags and fresh water whilst they are in our care. You will be required to ensure your pet has anything else they may need including coats, leads and collars with ID tags. Any allergies can be discussed during meet and greets and a full list of treats we use can be requested at any time.
